Arlington Youth

 Kiwanis Small Grants

This small grants program is designed to encourage caring adults and volunteer groups in Arlington to formulate and lead small projects in Arlington or in support of AISD schools that will benefit our youth. Each project should focus on meeting at least one of the five promises in America's Promise and involve both adults and youth working together. Each proposal must also be endorsed by a sponsoring organization (agency, school, church or Club) or by a supporting Kiwanian.

 The Arlington Alliance for Youth

Developing a great community in which our youth will flourish and grow.

The Arlington Alliance for Youth, sponsored by Arlington’s Kiwanis Clubs, helps mobilize both citizens and key agencies around the five promises embraced by America’s Promise (www.americaspromise.org). The program’s five promises support our youth by encouraging caring adults, safe places after school, healthy start and future, marketable skills, and opportunities for community service. By fulfilling these promises, we help build the character and competence of our youth. Learn More!

 Focus on the Five Promises

The five promises that are endorsed by the Arlington Alliance for Youth are keys to the development of Arlington as a City of Promise for our youth. The Alliance promotes the five promises because they are important to the development of our youth. If we as a community work at fulfilling these five promises, we help ensure that our legacy as community is one where youth can grow and mature into thriving adults. Learn More!

View Video from Global Youth Service Day (GYSD)

During GYSD, 39 youth groups (1050 people) where busy doing projects in their neighborhood. When they arrived at the closing ceremony in Vandergriff Park they were  interviewed by City Council Member Lana Wolff, AISD Superintendent Hector Montenegro, or Emcee Cheryel Carpenter. It was a great delight to see these interviews and learn about the great youth we have in Arlington. These internviews may be seen during comming week on the AISD TV Cable Channel 98 or by going to this link: http://www.aisd.net/video/Conversations/Conversations_117.html .

Please pass this link on to other members of your community that may know these youth. Help us celeberate our great youth and what they accomplished on GYSD
