Coalition Partner Pledge
Coalition Partners play a very special leadership role in organizing Arlington's GYSD. A strong youth group and their adult leaders normally assume the leadership role with the support of their sponsoring organization (school, agency, etc.) and do the following 7 steps:
- Gain permission to lead this effort from your school principal or a senior administrator of your sponsor organization.
- 2. The adult leader should complete and submit the Pledge Form below prior to January's Pledge Day.
- Prepare and Plan your Coalition:
- Recruit the required number of youth or youth groups for your coalition.
- Develop a special theme or project that provides purpose and/or direction for your Coalition.
- Recruit two adult leaders from your coalition to serve on the City's GYSD Steering Committee and attend Coalition leader training on January's Pledge Day. At least one adult must attend each of the remaining Steering Committee Meetings; 1-2 youth members from their coalition are welcomed.
- Ensure each youth group registers on our website prior to February's Registration Day (Click here)
- Submit your Coalition Plan by February’s Registration Day.
- Keep all youth groups in your coalition informed on requirements for GYSD activities.
- Give your coalition national recognition by registering your coalition with Youth Service America by Wed. March 30. (Click here)
- Celebrate with your coalition at the City's "Thank You" Lunch & Awards Ceremony on GYSD. Ensure members of your group attend and are interviewed and videotaped for the Cable TV Show "Conversations."
